Allied wins extra contract work for Holden

We've been working with Holden since 2006 and have just been successful in our tender for additional permanent runs in Melbourne, Sydney & Adelaide!

Four years ago Allied Express was awarded its first major contract with Holden in South Australia. This was to perform the milk runs, which bring all of the parts direct from part suppliers in Adelaide directly into the plant to build the Commodore. This coincided with the introduction of the new VE model which was a huge change to the car itself and the vehicle building process.

Allied is proud to say what continued thereafter was four years of zero service failures. The contract was even renewed at Holden's request for an extra year during the crisis with GM in the United States to ensure that Allied remained a supplier and supporter of Holden in SA.

When contracts were up for bid again in late 2010, Allied were invited to tender for the entire vehicle building logistics system which incorporates milk runs in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney as well as cross dock (transit warehouse) locations in Melbourne and Adelaide.

Allied were successful in retaining the runs we had done successfully since 2006. We also were awarded the milk runs in Melbourne and some more runs in Adelaide as well as the shuttle which runs all day between the plant and the cross dock in Adelaide.

On top of that, Allied was given the right to establish a new cross dock facility located very near to the Elizabeth car building plant. This work commenced on the 1st April 2011.

Not only does this strengthen the relationship between Holden and Allied Express, it is a threefold increase in the size of the account. Allied will now be providing staff to manage the cross dock facility and inside the engine building plant at Port Melbourne (Fisherman's Bend) as well as the Elizabeth vehicle building plant.

This is a huge achievement and an indication of the service that the Allied Express team provides in transport, logistics and solutions. It is proof that Allied Express helps build the cars, yesterday, today and tomorrow.
